Uncertainty

Uncertainty is a specter

A grey refraction of the lights

By which I seek to see.

It is my enemy.

I summon strength to ascend

To rise above its oppression

To see beyond its bounds.

But I cannot escape it.

It clings to me, shadows me

By light of day and dark of night

But as exhaustion sets in

I finally realize

My eyes are such I cannot see

What lies ahead on path before.

What trial.

But what blessing!

For I am thusly ignorant

Of depths of sorrow yet to come

Of joys to be surprisedly delighted in

What youth declared an enemy

Wisdom shows my oldest friend.
